Create your own sustainable home

Good buildings should satisfy all the principles of durability, utility and beauty. They should be sustainable within the surrounding environment, healthier for their occupants and able to heal and harmonise the negative energy fields created by modern technology.

Therese Poulsen created Lila Bamboo Villa utilising the ancient practices of yoga and its synchronisation it so beautifully shows through geometry using the sacred numbers and natures signs in how to follow all in its flowing energetic movements, Lila Bamboo Villa is a traditional Balinese wantilan three storey building. Magnificent and luxurious, though thoroughly soulful. Lila Bamboo is one of Indonesia’s tallest wantilan structures. The traditional architecture utilising sustainable materials including bamboo, palm leaves, alang-alang, and local river stones. The interiors feature exceptional pieces of Balinese local wood and stone craftsmanship.

There is no air-conditioning as the sliding doors open to invite the breeze in and, as in a tree house, the boundaries between inside and outside seem to dissolve. Sounds of crickets and frogs echo like an orchestra, the scent of frangipani, the traditional Balinese temple flower, fills the air. Here is a wonderful sense of living in the embrace of nature.

With her experience, knowledge and understanding Therese can advise on all aspects of your sustainable building project, including how to bring important information into your home both from within and without.
