VEDA WELLNESS

AYURVEDA

The art and science of life, tailored to your personal constitution.

A powerful medicine based upon the idea of balance in bodily systems through diet, fasting, cleansing and herbal treatments.

The word "Ayurveda" originates from Sanskrit, "Ayur" meaning life and "Veda" meaning knowledge. Ayurveda is an approach to living harmoniously with the universe in order to achieve optimum health.

Ayurvedic medicine is one of the world's oldest holistic ("whole-body") healing systems. It was developed in India more than 5,000 years ago and is based upon the understanding that health and wellness depends upon a delicate balance between mind, body and spirit.

Ayurveda believes five basic elements manifest in the body as three tridoshas humours, Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These three govern creation, maintenance and destruction of bodily tissues as well as assimilation and elimination.

VEDA on Fasting

All spiritual traditions hold fasting as a powerful gateway to the divine, allowing cleansing and healing within all levels, body, mind and soul. Although the practice has long been revered in the spiritual community, its benefits are now being noticed by the medical world. As we fast we enter into a state of detoxification, giving extraordinary benefits on our well-being.

Fasting helps cell rejuvenation, improves brain function and focus, as well as benefiting insulin sensitivity. When we fast the body does not waste energy on the digestive process, instead offering time and space for mental and spiritual healing. Fasting is a profoundly personal practice which allows us to reconnect with our faith, cleanse our soul and become more attuned with our surrounding world.

VEDA on Nutrition

"You are what you eat" as the saying goes, and it is important to understand that what we put into our bodies affects how we feel. Often times we eat foods that do not suit our system due to a lack of nutrition education. Unhealthy dietary habits coupled with a lack of physical activity are likely the main reasons for the poor health of our society.

When we educate ourselves on our unique nutritional needs and combine with exercise we can maintain a healthy weight, diminish the risk of chronic disease and nurture our general health. Our nutritional experts work in conjunction with award-winning chefs to provide a healthful menu which delights the taste-buds. All meals are tailored to the individual needs of the guests.
